The Government of Canada has announced additional funding aimed at maintaining affordable child care across Canada and supporting the long-term stability of the Canada-wide early learning and child care system.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to <\/span>Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC)<\/b>, on June 19, 2026, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families, informed provincial and territorial ministers responsible for early learning and child care that the Government of Canada will invest up to <\/span>$5.4 billion<\/b> over two years, covering the 2026\u201327 and 2027\u201328 fiscal years.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new funding comes in addition to more than <\/span>$58 billion<\/b> already invested through early learning and child care agreements with provinces and territories since 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n

The additional investment is intended to help maintain affordable child care for families while supporting the early childhood educators who make the system possible.<\/span><\/p>\n
