BC PNP Receives 1,000 Additional Nomination Spaces for 2026

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has received an additional 1,000 nomination spaces from the federal government, increasing the province’s total allocation to 6,254 nominations for 2026.

The additional allocation was announced by the province on August 18, 2026, and will be used toward British Columbia’s updated immigration program priorities.

The BC PNP allows British Columbia to nominate eligible foreign workers, entrepreneurs and other applicants for Canadian permanent residence based on the province’s economic and labour market needs.

According to the province, the additional 1,000 nominations will be applied to the updated program objectives announced on April 23, 2026.

British Columbia also plans to use its full 6,254 nomination allocation by December 31, 2026.

The additional allocation is significant for prospective BC PNP candidates because the number of nominations available to the province determines how many applicants British Columbia can nominate for permanent residence during the year.

However, receiving additional nomination spaces does not mean every candidate in the BC PNP pool will receive an invitation or nomination. Applicants must still meet the requirements of the applicable BC PNP stream and any other selection criteria used by the province.

What This Means for BC PNP Candidates

Candidates interested in immigrating to British Columbia through the BC PNP should review their eligibility and ensure they understand the requirements of the pathway that applies to their situation.

With the province planning to use its full allocation before the end of 2026, prospective applicants should also pay attention to upcoming BC PNP announcements, invitations and program changes.
