What is the Scholarship?
The Agriculture Student Scholarship lets young people in Saskatchewan showcase their ideas and get financial help as they start post-secondary studies in agriculture-related fields. (Government of Saskatchewan)
There are four awards:
- One Grand Prize of $6,000 (Government of Saskatchewan)
- Three Runner-Up Awards of $3,000 each (Government of Saskatchewan)
Who Can Apply?
You’re eligible if you meet these main criteria:
- You live in Saskatchewan. (Government of Saskatchewan)
- You are a Grade 12 student or a high-school/GED graduate (within the past two school years). (Government of Saskatchewan)
- You will be beginning agriculture-related post-secondary studies in the fall of 2026. (Government of Saskatchewan)
- Your post-secondary institution may be in or outside Saskatchewan—it just needs to be accredited. (Government of Saskatchewan)
- Note: If you or an immediate family member is employed by the local Ministry of Agriculture/related body you may not be eligible. (Government of Saskatchewan)
What’s the Theme & What Do You Submit?
The theme for 2026 is “solutions to challenges in agriculture.” Applicants are asked to explore how the agriculture industry can tackle current or future challenges. (Government of Saskatchewan)
You may submit either:
- A creative ~3-minute video or
- A 1,000-word essay. (Government of Saskatchewan)
Additional required documents: - A letter of conditional acceptance from your post-secondary institution. (Government of Saskatchewan)
- A letter of recommendation (teacher, agriculture-industry leader, or community leader). (Government of Saskatchewan)
Guiding questions you might consider (but you don’t have to answer all):
- What are the most pressing challenges in agriculture and how might innovative solutions help?
- How can the agriculture industry improve communication, transparency and public trust?
- How could collaboration between producers, researchers, policymakers work to solve issues?
- What are good examples of innovation in the sector and what lessons can be learned? (Government of Saskatchewan)
Deadline & Process

- If selected, you must submit proof of official enrolment in your post-secondary institution before funds are awarded. (Government of Saskatchewan)
