CANBERRA, 5 August 2025 – Australia has opened registrations for the Pacific Engagement Visa (subclass 192), offering up to 3,000 permanent resident visas annually to eligible nationals from Pacific Island countries and Timor-Leste. This initiative strengthens regional ties and provides new migration pathways to Australia.
Key Dates
- Pacific Engagement stream registrations: Opened 28 July 2025, closing 25 August 2025
- Tuvalu Treaty stream: Registration closed 18 July 2025, with selections ongoing until 25 January 2026
Applicants must register via ImmiAccount, pay a AUD 25 ballot entry fee, and wait for random selection. Those selected will have 120 days to submit a full visa application.
Eligibility Requirements
According to the Department of Home Affairs, to register for the ballot, applicants must:
- Be aged 18 to 45 at the time their country’s ballot opens
- Hold a valid passport from a participating country
- Be born in, or have a parent born in, a participating country
- Not be a citizen of New Zealand
- Not be registered in another country’s PEV ballot
- Be able to include a partner and dependent children in their registration if desired
If selected, applicants must obtain a formal job offer in Australia and meet English, character, and health requirements before the visa can be granted.
Participating Countries
Eligible nations include (but are not limited to):
Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Vanuatu, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Tuvalu (Treaty Stream), Nauru, Palau, and Micronesia.
