Breaking: IRCC Updates Proof of Settlement Funds Requirements for 2025

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced important changes to the requirements for proof of settlement funds for 2025.

Settlement funds are still mandatory for many Express Entry candidates — especially those applying through the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. However, the required minimum amounts have changed this year.

What does this mean for you?

  • Check your eligibility: Not all candidates need to show settlement funds. For example, if you have a valid job offer, you may be exempt.
  • Update your Express Entry profile: If you don’t update your profile with the new amounts, and your funds fall below the new threshold, your profile could be removed from the Express Entry pool.
  • Act quickly: Make sure you have enough funds in acceptable financial instruments and supporting documents ready.
